Created for the launch of their Tokyo Lash Bar in San Francisco, L’Oreal liked this video so much that they decided to use it as a point-of-sale piece throughout their North American boutiques.

The shu uemura team approached me with a need for creative direction. After meeting with them and deeply exploring the brand, I pitched a concept that I felt truly captured their legendary avant-garde lashes and cosmetic artistry in motion. In a breakneck one day stop-motion shoot at shu uemura’s NYC Soho boutique, I photographed more than a dozen looks on two exceptionally patient models. Watching some of the top makeup artists in the country at their trade was a truly unique and exceptional experience.

Back in the studio, I took these sequences and began the painstaking work of assembling and retouching. Even from my rough edit, I knew we’d captured something remarkable: the look of high end editorial photography with the surprise of movement. It’s a portfolio favourite!
